Austin Daze

I have lived in the Austin area my entire life and in all 24 years of it I have not once stopped to take a picture in front of any of the notorious graffiti walls that Austin has all around. Well, this past weekend Tim and I did just that!

Our mission for the day was to stroll along South Congress, also known as SoCo, here to find shops that were looking for models to promote clothing and accessories their boutique offers and lucky for me I found a few that were interested in me! I am so elated and exited to start venturing into a modeling “career”. I put that in quotes because right now it’s starting as a hobby, but my dream is for it to blossom into a career, along with the success of my blog eventually.

Enjoy the few pictures we snapped during our outing.

We stopped by a cute vintage shop we saw while eating at a deli and took some pictures in the clothing- talk about fa-shi-oooon.

I choose to keep mu outfit simple at fitted for the modeling opportunity search, so they could see my physique in its simplest form. Black V-neck top, black skinny leg trousers, brown faux suede booties and my favorite gold watch.

Simple, yet Chic

untitled4Hello babes! Happy Wednesday! Also, hooray for my first fashion post! These will definitely become some what of a regular on here. This weekend, Tim and I went to a birthday dinner for a family member of mine at a hip local burger joint we have here in Austin called Hop Doddy. If you’re in the Austin/Round Rock area I highly suggest you stop by there-everything is amazing!! So, I wanted to wear something that was ultra comfortable, per usual, casual but also “hip” (is that even a cool term to use any m ore?! I don’t know)

I choose a soft pink body suit from F21, along with my favorite summer time distressed highwaisted denim shortie shorts from American Eagle, new brown suede booties from F21, and I paired all of this with a crystal chocker that I got from  Rue21 as a set.

I tend to keep my outfits pretty simple 90% of the time, going for a monochrome or minimalist look. I might ass a gold watch, earrings or a ring or two from time to time if I’m feeling jewelry for the day.

This was the perfect attire to eat, drink and be merry with my friends and family. As you can see from my selfie I even added demi whispies lashes by Ardell to my simple go-to make up look, which made me feel oh so flirty! I added soft waves to  my hair as well to add a touch of glam. I hope you enjoyed this post.

Crystal Chocker (I could not find this exact chocker online, but they are so popular you can walk into pretty much any store and fine one)

Essential Tops

To start off I’d like to say I am very excited to be writing my first fashion post….

My wardrobe pretty much consist of simple, comfy and somewhat trendy items. I gravitate towards solid colored clothing in neutral colors, jewel tones and occasionally I will purchase a color that’s very opposite of black, but that’s rare. Recently I have discovered my love for bodysuits!

Currently I have 4, but I will definitely be purchasing more soon. When I wear most tops I like to wear high waisted bottoms and with my body type wearing a top that can be tucked into my bottoms flatters me most. That’s why these tops are so amazing to me.

I don’t have to worry about them coming out the tops of my bottoms or creating a bulge at my waist, they just lay perfectly and look so sleek and dare I say sexy.

I enjoy showing off the curves that I do have and a bodysuit that falls against my frame so effortlessly is perfect.

These tops can be paired with pretty much any bottoms for any occasion: denim jeans, denim shorts, trousers, skirts, etc.

Browsing though my camera roll, this is the only picture I had that shows off one of the above pictured tops (you can ignore the snapchat tags and my work name badge haha I’m working on getting better outfit of the day pictures)
Look forward to a lot of OTD post and “favorites” post!

My Top 10 USes for Coconut Oil

Coconut oil!

It’s more than the latest trend in health and beauty at the moment-it’s a complete lifestyle change! I have been adding coconut oil to my health and beauty regime for a few years now and in the most recent months I have truly seen the benefits of using it, making me a huge fan of it.

When looking for a coconut oil to purchase look for brands that are cold pressed and organic. By purchasing this particular type of coconut oil  you are getting the most natural form of the oil, making it the most beneficial. There are SO many options to browse through and luckily coconut oil comes in large supplies lasting you for a few months at a time.

Now onto the good stuff! Below is a list of my top 10 uses for coconut oil:

  1. Face moisturizer- I would like to thank Tim for introducing me to applying coconut oil as a moisturizer! Over the last few months I have seen a major change in the softness and overall clarity of my skin thanks to the magic of coconut oil (how many times can I say coconut oil in one post?!) I simply wash my face as I normally would removing all of the makeup and dirt from the day (morning and night) and then apply a very tiny amount of coconut oil to my cleansed skin. A little of this goes a very long way! Lately, I have been adding a small drop of this vitamin E oil to the coconut oil for added moisture.
  2. Heal cuts- I recently found out about this one. Coconut oil has natural healing abilities and is great for applying to small cuts.
  3. Body moisturizer- tonight, skip the lotion and slather on some coconutpil (and vitamin E oil). As with your face, coconut and vitamin E oil are amazing at softening your skin and diminishing any discoloration. They also add an extra glow to your skin as well, which is always nice.
  4. Makeup remover- want to remove that stubborn eyeshadow and mascara without ripping your lashes out?! Then put down the makeup wipes and pick up your coconut oil! I keep a small container of coconut oil in the bathroom from convince. For this task, I apply the coconut oil directly to my eyelids (be very careful to avoid actually getting it in your eye) and with a semi wet cotton pad I rub the oil in circular motions until all of my eye makeup is removed. This is a very gentle way to remove stubborn eye makeup and also moisturize your eyelashes all in one!
  5. Hair mask-after washing your, hair for a natural and highly benidicial mask use a good amount of coconut oil as a deep conditioner. I leave it on for about 30 minutes or so, wash and blowdry and style as usual. This will leave your hair so soft and shiny- thank me later.
  6. Lip balm- It’s simple, apply a very small portion of coconut oil to your lips for moisture and shine.
  7. Lip scrub- whenever my lips feel really dry I like to mix a little bit of coconut oil and sugar in a bowl and then apply to clean lips in a circular motion. This helps to remove the dead skin from your lip, leaving them so soft!
  8. Of course COOKING- substituting butter for coconut oil is always a great option. Any time I sautée or bake something in the oven I reach for either my organic coconut oil or my coconut oil cooking spray as a healthier option.
  9. Hair oil- my hair tends to be a bit on the dry side 90% of the time from all of the heat and chemicals I apply to it on a regular basis (I’m trying to get better-I promise). So, to add back some shine l, softness and moisture I like to apply a small portion of coconut oil or coconut oil based products to it daily.
  10. Last but not least, oil pulling- now this one I must admit is something I  still learning about and trying to get used to. There are plenty of blogs and websites that go into full detail about the benefits of oil pulling, but I’ll try to give my best interpretation of it here. All I do I place a spoonful of coconut oil into my mouth, chew it until it liquifies and I keep that in my mouth for about 10 minutes. It will feel a bit off your first few times trying this, but make sure to find a simple task to do while you are swishing the oil between your teeth to aid as a distraction. Oil pulling is literally pulling the toxins from your body so be sure NOT to swollen any of the oil. After about 10-20 minutes, spit the oil into your trash can, not your sink, and brush your teeth as your normally would.

I’m sure they are so many other benefits of coconut oil and if you have any tricks of your own I’d love to know about them.

Couscous Avocado Breakfast Bowl

I promise this blog is not solely a good blog, I just love food! I promise the next post will be something other than a recipe!

After an early 8am start to my Saturday with a doctors appointment, grocery store outing and a brisk jog in this amazing weather Austin is having right now, I pulled up my Pinterest knowing I wanted to make a meal that included avocado and sausage. That’s what I found this beauty-

The recipe I found called for quinoa, but during my trip to our local HEB and a little confusion between Tim and I, we decided Quinoa and Couscous were the same thing (let me know if we were wrong).

The entire meal only took about 20-25 minutes to prep and cook which is great because I was s t a r v i n g by the time I got in the kitchen. The instructions were easy to follow and of course the ingredients are always interchangeable. I never really follow along exactly to what a recipe calls for, I enjoy mixing and matching and playing around with the ingredients.

I didn’t have feta cheese, but this mozzarella was a good substitute.

I pan roasted my tomatoes because raw tomatoes are icky to me, haha.

The breakfast bowl didn’t take too many ingredients, but I did add sausge to the bowl for an extra bit.

I get this sausage from HEB. It’s the closes thing to organic that I can find at the moment.

Everything else you need to know is detailed in this link:
I hope you enjoy it as much as Tim and I did!

Quick Organic Breakfast

I’m not going to say it, I’m NOT going to say it…..

….Ok, I am!! I’ve been away for way too long! And it’s out of my system.

But seriously, I have! Honestly, I’ve thought about posting more content time and time again, but I have sadly been too lazy to open up a laptop or even post from my iPhone (as I’m doing now). But here I am; excited, pumped and ready to bring you more! I have a whole new (well, kind of new) outlook on life and this is where I plan to share it all.

My wonderful boyfriend, Timothy, and I have been on a journey to happiness and a healthier lifestyle the last few weeks and since we’ve started we feel better than ever.

Ever heard of that saying, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”? I believe in that whole heartedly. I believe that starting your day strong is the motivating key to staying strong throughout the rest of the day.
My meal of choice this morning was 7 Grain Waffles topped with Strawberries and Mapple Syrup paired with Natural Sausage and Avocados (because I love avocados)

There in he back, Tim chose (by chose I mean forced because their were only two waffles left and out of the kindness of his heart and his love for oatmeal I won the waffles) to have Blueberry Chai Seed Oatmeal topped with Peanutbutter Granola, along with Toast, Natural Sausage and Avocado as well.

Both dishes have super easy prep and provide you with the nutrients to get your day going.

The most work I did was follow the instructions listed in the package of oatmeal to prepare it, add in a dash of butter, maple syrup and unrefined and pure coconut sugar (I’ll go into the choice of organic/natural staple ingredients in a later post). Throw your sausage in the pan to cook with a little coconut oil, pop your waffles into the toaster, dice fruit and avocados and that’s it.

An easy and quick delicious breakfast! Let me know if you give it a try. Everything can be swapped out for you favorite ingredients of choice, of course. Play around with different foods and just have fun.
